Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

Majordomy is operated from majordomy.com. Household owners decide who is invited and what household information is stored. Majordomy processes that information to provide the Service.

2. Information we collect

Account information: name, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash), preferred language, and optional authenticator settings.

Household content you and other members submit: tasks, routines, shopping items, schedules, attendance, notices, messages, profile details, and photos or voice notes attached to household work.

Technical and security information: session cookies, device and browser data needed to keep you signed in, approximate network information used for rate limiting, abuse prevention, and to choose a sky backdrop for your area (that location is not stored and is not used for ads), and push-notification subscription data if you enable alerts on a device.

If you use Google sign-in, we receive the Google account identifiers needed to match that sign-in to an existing Majordomy account. We do not use Google sign-in to create a new account without an invitation.

3. How we use information

We use information to operate and secure the Service, authenticate you, deliver household content to the right people, send invitations and security codes, translate content when you ask, send the notifications you enable, and improve reliability. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use household content for advertising.

4. How information is shared

Inside a household, other members and invited help can see information their role allows. Owners can invite people, revoke access, and manage profiles.

We use processors that help run Majordomy, including cloud hosting and storage, email delivery, Open-Meteo for the weather lookup that chooses a sky backdrop, and (if you choose it) Google sign-in. They may process data only to provide those services.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the Service or users from serious harm, or in connection with a reorganization of the Service, with equivalent privacy protections where reasonably possible.

5. Cookies and local data

Majordomy uses a session cookie to keep you signed in. The browser may also store language, help-progress, and similar preferences locally. You can clear local data in your browser; doing so may sign you out or reset those preferences.

6. Children’s information

Majordomy is not directed at children as a public product. A household may store a child’s first name, schedule, or related notes so the household can coordinate care. Owners are responsible for that information. We do not knowingly create standalone accounts for children under 13. Contact us if you believe we have information that should be removed.

7. Retention and security

We keep account and household information while the account or household is active and as needed for security, backups, and legal obligations. Closed accounts and deleted households are removed or de-identified when reasonably practicable.

We use access controls, hashed passwords, encrypted sensitive fields where the Service is designed to do so, and hosting protections. No online service is completely secure. Use a unique password and keep invitation codes private.

8. International processing

Majordomy is hosted on infrastructure that may process data in the United States and other countries. If you use the Service from another country, you understand that your information may be processed outside your home jurisdiction.

9. Your choices and rights

You can update your name, language, password, and notification settings in the app. A household owner can revoke access or ask for household data to be corrected. You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold about you by contacting the operator of Majordomy through majordomy.com, subject to household permissions and legal limits.

You can disable push notifications on each device. You can stop using the Service at any time. Where a local law gives you additional rights, we will honor those rights to the extent they apply.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this Policy. The effective date will change, and continued use after an update is acknowledgment of the new Policy. For privacy questions, contact the household that invited you or the operator of Majordomy at majordomy.com. The English version of this Policy governs if a translation differs.
